The Newborn Edit
Days nought to thirty, and nothing else.
-
Start here. Two swaddles is the right number for a first month — one in the wash, one in use.
-
Zips, rather than buttons. In the first month you will change a sleepsuit more often than you expect and you will do it half asleep.
-
Five coordinated pieces in one go, which is the shortcut when you have not had time to think about a wardrobe. Quantities here are small.
-
Four dollars, and the cheapest thing on any list we publish. Buy more than you think.
-
For the fortnight when nothing else works. It is not decorative and it does not pretend to be.
-
A stretch swaddle is the easier one to get right if you have never wrapped a baby before. Oat goes with everything, including a photograph.
-
Too early to be useful, and that is the point — buy the attachment object before it becomes irreplaceable, then buy a second one.
-
The one thing on this list bought for the photograph rather than the practicality, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
-
Ends the list where most first months end: something you wish you had bought a week earlier.
